@OldTimeRadio asked for a map of Eveningstar, and I started it, we had a cool RP walk and stuff, but the rest timer and fact that each point of interest requires a rest is not fun. I fully support a good rest timer for casters, but drawing a map is not as hard as flinging a fireball I think. Now I know why even weeks after he posted looking for a cartographer, no one took him up on it before my bard.

My suggestion would be if you want map making to require time, how about tying the tools to something other than rests, or if that is too difficult, perhaps have the number of points of interest that can be marked be increased to at least 3/day.

To be fair, this system was made a long time ago, when the server worked kind of differently, and could probably use a look.

I will be frank though, if I was active and scripting and such, this would probly get tucked pretty low on the ol pile of stuff to do.
I'd probably want to make more than just one tweak to it if I was gonna dig about too. Not sure what though.

@zool Oh, I am super grateful that the cartography systems exists, gives rangers and bards a little special skill to call their own, and it's good for RP. I just want the actual process to be less tedious and more fun. Completely understand if it is too low priority given it is a change that only impacts two classes.

I'm having a look to see what can be done and then the team will discuss. Not opposed to loosening the restriction.

@prof-misclick easiest thing would be to alter the amount of points of interest based on how far the map is form the city, so in the villages/city a single sign post poi would do but in the far hullack you need 10 etc

would simply adding more charges per day to the map making thingy work?

Emeraude Highhill - retired I guess?

                    That's what I was thinking.
Maybe make it like 3 use/day?

@echo Seems a reasonable and hopefully easy fix.

Depends if the script cares about how many charges, or uses scripting to manage how many POI's can be selected per map area, per rest.

I have no clue, never looked.

@zool I mean Cartographers tools/incomplete maps are an item, and it has a 1/day use, should be something that can just change on the item attributes, right?

v7415 Set the Cartography Tools to 3 uses per day.
After v7415 is live, try a new set. This will not work on sets bought prior to 7415. We will not replace/refund old sets.
