This is a feature, allowing people to share the dream sequence together! (How this is possible, has not been uncovered yet) There are items IG allowing this to happen more often, or not at all.

You hit the statue with the spell provided by the magical orb, or cast it as a wizard. Its a puzzle door like all the others :)
