Isn't the number of essences collected per Elemental random? I've had 1-3 of the appropriate essence after successful extraction.

Not a bug. Not all spells were made available to put into wands.
@Echo I can confirm the "new" lightweight and stackable Garlic also failed to work to make healing kits. I gave quite a bit of it to Rosa, and she confirmed it did not work.

Greater is correct costs 56gp (with flask) to craft via alchemy costs 80gp to craft via feat costs 90g to buy in shop
difficulty is based on Dex 30%, Int 35%, Wis35% plus your level of alchemy skill so it depends on your stats and is different for everyone
greater is correct greater = 50gp purchase from npc = 70g correcting on the forums
