      Currently the script for Raise Dead requires an item with the tag "Large Diamond" which as far as I am aware is totally unavailable. NPC priests, from reports, can not cast it though I haven't been able to test this.

      The difference between Respawning (15%) and Raise Dead (10%) is miniscule, though; making the scrolls and ability to cast the spell worth quite a bit less than would be expected.

      In the face of the fact that no character can cast Resurrection, I would recommend decreasing XP loss when having a character raised via Raise Dead; and changing the requirement to the CNR diamonds or those dropped via the loot tables (NW_IT_GEM005). With regard to the spell, as well, these changes from vanilla are not documented and should be amended in the Spell Changes thread.

      I can make these changes, of course. Just need the go ahead.

        I am of the opinion that a player casting raise dead should share the XP cost of the raise.

          Two options:

          1. Add Large Diamonds to certain NPC merchants for X amount of GP
          2. Change the requirement to Fine Diamonds (craftable by PCs)

          What gp should large diamonds cost?
          Are craftable Fine Diamonds obtainable enough to be balanced?

            Split xp 50/50 between player being raised and the raising PC cleric. Perhaps have a modifier so that if you are the same god(ess) the percentage gets adjusted

                    Given how hard it is for a level 9 pc to gain XP at the moment, 6% of their current XP is enough of a tax I think to make sure that noone would ever cast this spell more than once.

                    To be clear, that means raising a player who is precisely level 8 would take away about 1,680 xp from each player. That's 18.6% of the xp required to go from 9 to 10.

                    A much smaller flat rate would be better, but I don't personally think any XP tax on players over level 8 right now is worth looking into given how hard it seems to be to gain xp in the current module. I don't think its fair to players to put such an emphasis on slowing down XP gain at high levels and ALSO tack on an extra tax on certain spells.

                    I'd prefer to see more laterally applied taxes to spells like this. Alignment shifts for raising players outside of the 1-Step range. A more significant and ritualistic casting procedure. I'm sure we can come up with something more interesting than just penalizing players that are already being penalized.

                    As far as quick fixes go- Having the crafting option available (In Fine/Enchanted Diamonds) as an alternative is a good, but it shouldn't be the only option. Making reagents available to find in the module or able to be purchased for a decent sum would also be required. You shouldn't HAVE to be crafting or have an available gemcrafter online in order to cast the spell, it should just be preferred.

                      I am honestly less concerned with XP and think it makes more sense to focus on Gold bloat personally. XP cost would indeed make sure players will think twice before doing this.

                      I would recommend having the ability of buying the Gem from NPC(For those times you cant find a PC crafter) and also the ability to use a crafted one. Should be relatively easy to allow both Enchanted Diamonds AND Large Diamonds to work if we dont want to allow players to purchase Enchanted Diamonds at stores - The part of allowing to purchase Enchanted Diamond though is up to @Echo.

                      Right now Raise Dead costs around 1700-1800GP at NPC, so I would recommend making a gem cost 1300gp to buy(@Echo will need to share how much it costs to make these). With Appraisal the price can probably drop down to 1000gp which is acceptable.
