Dire Rat corpses also weigh 30lbs.

No, they should come under the set of small creatures, or even tiny, which should be much lighter - HOWEVER weight is added for strength and constitution scores - high str/con, adds more weight. 30 sounds like they are coming under the medium size category though.
Some stuff get's missed for various reasons. I have no idea about the unidentified part... that's just weird.
