    The world sings, and our echos are the ink we choose to leave behind. Perhaps, on rare occasions, that ink takes a shape and begins to think for itself-- and in the doing of it, creativity thrives.

    If you don’t find that idea too pretentious we’re going to have a great time. Even if you do, I’m sure we can still have fun wrestling over mechanics and tactics.

    My name is Sphinxie, I’m coming behind the screen for the first time on CoA and second time in my NWN ‘career’. I’ve got a lot to learn, but I also have a lot of ideas on how I can help you pursue your own enjoyment of our shared hobby.

    While I’m getting back into client/toolset work, you can expect I’ll be running a lot of smaller scale encounters- quest spice, supporting other DM’s as they run their events, helping players start up their own activities. I’ll likely be leaving some DMless encounters around the server periodically as well for those in off time zones, and just because it’s fun to find little surprises.

    So!

    What can you expect from me?

    I’m in the EST timezone (UTC -5:00). I usually have Monday through Wednesday off, and work Thursday to Sunday. I’ll be harder to schedule something with on those days, but I will make an effort.

    I tend to enjoy briskly paced encounters usually (but not always) with their own self-contained narratives. Lighthearted roleplay and banter, but I can definitely do serious and dramatic. If you’re in the midst of a long quest roleplaying with a buddy, I’m very likely to drop you some extra goodies to help you on your way.

    Use them, because I also enjoy tactical challenges and combat puzzles and I will always reward clever solutions. The fighter who takes his armor off and strides out in front of a bunch of bandits with just a loin cloth on and his chest oiled up, arms flung out with supreme confidence will definitely get a response-- for the sheer novelty of it and absolutely no other reason.

    I want to try and help players who’re maybe unsure about what to do with their characters, or aren’t really comfortable with narrative construction, goal setting, or even NWN’s finicky mechanics. I’m not a master of any field, but if I can help you have more fun, then I’m doing my job and we’re both made richer for it.

    My near-future effort is going to be spent studying the server, module, plot tickets, and figuring out where best to apply myself. I’m super easy to get hold of on Discord, or on these forums. If you think that reaching out to a DM is a big deal, I promise you its not.

    If you’re uncomfortable with that and want to keep all interactions in character for whatever reason, that’s totally fair, we can do that, too. Send a letter to a group or faction you want to interact with and be clear and concise with what you want and I’ll make an effort to respond and help you get rolling.

    Like any relationship, it’s give and take, though. Don’t expect me to pull for you if you’re just going to say ‘I want this thing’. D&D’s a collaborative storytelling game and we all want to have fun. We can figure out what that looks like together; it’s going to be a partnership.

    Oh, one last thing.

    As you might have guessed from the name and theming: I like books and creative works. If you want to do a character (or take up a hobby in character) focusing on creating stuff or doing unusual things not usually supported by mechanics, let me know. We will figure out how to make it cool. I’m going to be getting the library submissions sorted out and see what I can do about normalizing rewards for these kinds of in-game efforts. If you have ideas for that, I’d love to hear them.

    Hi all,

    Just a quality of life note for the entire community regarding resets.

    We do our best to do frequent resets however there is not a specific time period for them to be done. Often we are waiting on a module update before we ask people to log off and reset so there in a minimal interruption to gameplay. Please be patient If there has not been a reset in 48 hours please let us know, otherwise, we'll complete the reset when appropriate or time allows.

    We are changing our guidance / approach to returning PCs

    If you want to bring back a PC from an absence of over 6 months just grab any DM first so we can check for any loot, or previous affiliations, which might be unbalancing or make no sense to the current setting.

    A full application isn’t required.

    We would always advise rolling something new after a long break, as the setting’s political (and sometimes geographical) landscape may be vastly different from when the character was last active.

    Water Tubs: I had put the wrong convo script in the OnUsed. Replaced with correct scripts.. Water tubs should work again. Added updated water tubs to collinwood interiors and high crimmond. Removed old "holy pools" since their function is now covered by the water tubs

    Ogre quest got an update; mostly minor adjustments to NPCs (let me know if anything is suddenly way off; guys should hit a little armor but also not be running around with 9 natural AC anymore and crazy high HP; so it should be a wash on balance, I wasn't trying to make it harder).

    Testing a new feature for the quest that will replace the random disease triggers ( but still testing, players will automatically delete the feature when they go to take the quest - so I just want to grab someone after a reset to test it out first).

    Updated Goldfeather (Haunted Ruin) quest NPCs; quest story should be more clear now, along with why these particular NPCs are attacking you despite their nature. This did alter an NPC on Tessaril's Tower quest (which will get an update later so this is all fine for now). Lots of new loot on this quest. Quest should be a bit more strategic, it'd been edited quite a bit from super dangerous immobile NPCs you were suppose to kill from a distance originally, to slow moving NPCs you were still suppose to kill from a distance) to now being a variety of NPCs that do different things for you to figure out in game how to battle. Hopefully, making this more intersting.

  • Event: Haunted Halls Dungeon Crawl

    Ran the first attempt at this; players got half-way through the challenges. The dungeon remains unconquered...for now.

    I have two more teams who hope to try, please firm up a time you want to make this happen with me.

    If anyone else wants to put a team together to brave this dungeon, let me know!

    Respawn XP Penalty reduced from 25% to 20%

    Plot tickets area also a good way to communicate with the team about questions/concerns/advice for your character moving forward with various game elements/stories/plots/goals/etc.

    Hi all. We're conducting a top to bottom review of the items produced from the crafting system and looking for some community help. We've been making adjustments piecemeal but there remain items that just aren't "worth it".     As this is all a work in progress and things will be implemented over time, we're not offering rebuilds/remakes. DMs asking for skill checks will take into account that older characters didn't have the opportunity to take a relevant new skill
