Get Rid of Deity Requirements on Items. Implement Domain Requirements
-
Right, well- here goes.
The deity required amulets are un-sat. They require your character to built around a certain deity and creed. DM perceived favoritism toward certain gods make certain pieces of loot far more common (and yes I know Tempus and other gods being more common in the region makes it more likely you will find loot that favors them, I GET IT- but it still is un-sat). They are buggy and sometimes even IF you are that deity's follower, they don't work because someone didn't write Urdlen correctly in their deity field or there's some other obnoxious bug.
There's over 200+ gods in Faerun. These items don't cater to unique character cults or Divine Souls.
Far better in my opinion to swap it to Domains.
Domains are far fewer, open up the number of players who can use those items, and so on and so forth. A Red Knight Pendant with Planning Domain can be worn by a Helmite Cleric with the same domain. Sure, it might raise eyebrows, but he can claim he's honoring red knight's strategic brilliance while maintaining the vigilance of his post. Clerics can and often do honor allied Deity's and their own domains, and I don't think it's entirely wrong to say a follower of Malar might wear a symbol of silvanus for aid in hiding in a woodland, and a pendant of auril for stealth in the Tundra.
I dunno, this feels more inclusive, less buggy.

@SpiffyMeister This kinda makes some sense to me
-
It is favortism toward certain gods.
Sometimes that matters, sometimes it doesn't. Happy to add stuff that looks for a domain if we want, but there's just "general cleric stuff" then there is "stuff that's pretty good and goes with certain gods/themes for quests".
-
Sure, of course it's true that there's over 200 gods in Faerun.
But see, that becomes a problem. There's too many Gods.
Can't expect them all to be equally relevant, in a region such as Cormyr. Hence the favoritism towards certain Gods over others.
Plus some Gods will simply, by lore, be able to bestow greater blessings and miracles to their followers than others, simply due to being of a higher order and having more worshippers.
And I don't see why a Red Knight pendant should empower a Helmite equally.
TL;DR: Current system seems fine to me.

@Richord it's a buggy mess and it's easier to check domains than deity. How often has someone misspelled one of the million elven gods?
-
@SpiffyMeister What I think you can expect is deity specific stuff will be stronger than general stuff that's linked to domain (which will be a boon for deity specific) but still give more cleric options on gear.

The Must have Faith (and other things) in - stuff, is AND
As well
Not OR, like Only useable by CLASS etc
Only useable by Barbarian
Only useable by Chaotic EvilMeans, any barbarian
Or
Any chaotic evil
Can use it.
If it has
Only useable with faith in GOD
Only useable by Barbarian
Only useable by Chaotic evilThen, ONLY someone with faith in that god
AND
Barbarian OR chaotic evilCan use it.
