On taking the quest the Strange Device for the Old Tomb wasn't given by Elderly Woman to use with the puzzle. After Spiffy gave me a Device, triggering Ray of Fire cast Toad Leap on my character. The other powers all fired properly.
Traps on the quest did no damage if triggered and did not yield xp when disarmed.
Other than the initial journal entry there were no updates once the end objective was reached.

Yes, got given the item, however the Burning Orb door did not respond to the Device and remained locked blocking further advancement, so I didn't complete and check end journal update sorry.

Could the door's orb still have been looking for Ray of Fire rather than alchemists fire?

The door just looks for fire damage :)

Used tinder and camp fire to bump through this door a few minutes ago and went to the end of the tomb.
The Lich Sphere and it's corresponding lever are on the wrong sides of the door way. Sphere needs to be triggered to leave the tomb.
Triggered the gate in the last room, but only the left hand door opens, the other remains locked. Wandered around the room but no update to journal and no option to successfully hand quest in when you return to the Elderly Woman.
Checked a few times for hidden enemies/ doors/ levers etc. Are there supposed to be any other spawns or npcs to interact with or kill besides the badgers?

Sorry Puffy, the same door sphere is not responding to fire. No journal changes, quest doesn't appear to be possible to complete at the moment.

Alright, orb should be fixed and maybe the journal as well :)

Stuck at the beholder sphere, fired all of the different abilities on the orb several times and the door wouldnt open.

The door in question is talking to the wrong placeable, or vice versa.
