My comment would be why not rp instead of mindlessly grinding quests? Quest with others and rp? We really do want the majority of pcs to hover around level 8. Level 9 and 10 are mostly easily achieved by doing stuff other than questing BUT there are quests for levels right up to 10 so when others are doing them, a high level PC can participate.

As Echo mentioned, there will be an adjustment to the XP for turn ins.

Yeah agreed the quests are stale and overdone. If some more interesting / challenging quests were added it would achieve both goals of RP and XP. People are sick and tired of Rping about the same old quests for the 200th time and just want to get it over with for the meagre XP reward.

If you want players to be level 8 then cap it there otherwise add some more fulfilling end game content for serious gamers.

I understand you've got a vision for the server though we've been asking for the old quest ports/harder content for ages and it's just not there. With two fellow 8s I was able to do any quest on the server.

I understand these things take time and can be a lot of work though I believe you'd find ample volunteers to help

i think i am the exception here, i find the quests scary and new, but i do them rather sparingly for in character reasons.

lots of time i am not on when others are on who would be suitable for me to go with, but i do many times find really good RP.

a lot of times i do not feel brave, running on some of the roads can be exciting for me, in spite of my summons normally able to handle many of the threats closer to the cities and towns (they do get more formidable the further one wanders, but that is quite realistic) i prefer not to harm any of the things, unless they are camping on a transition, then i will deal with them

leveling is slower than it was when i played my misrim character, but i do not mind, i have managed modest goals in the game

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example

CoA isnt about "serious gamers" it is and has always been an RP server with quests thrown in for stuff to do.

              That said...
              Building quests takes time
Creating and balancing the quest spawns/monsters/bosses takes time
Creating and balancing the quest loot takes time

Puffy and I have both added a few new quests recently. Not sure anyone is doing them yet. Spiffy has a few quests rattling around in his brain. But as I said, these take time.

One of the chief complaints about quests is there is no lore in them. Well, if you want lore, we need time to come up with stuff. Write stories/histories that fit with the setting, etc. I could probably whip up a basic "go in and kill some stuff and get paid" quest but then people would complain that it was dull. So, be patient, and go test the new stuff that has been added.

It's designed to take time for even sErIOusgAmeRs to get to lebul tin.

Serious gamers don't play this game.

Ignoring the random 2 words to avoid the derailing/trolling of this thread.

If the Xp reward changes are coming, I think that is a good thing.
It will help it feel less of a need of a slog.

In regards to new quests coming in, I think this is something that shouldn't be undervalued. Yes we know it takes time and of course players don't want just an empty quest without some actual lore/etc. But I think thats why porting in some of the older quests make sense, the foundation is there and they were very interesting/players still feel nostalgic about certain quests like Haunted Painting, Scrambled Eggs, Storm Vault, and Ashby's trilogy to name a few. They just need to be adjusted to EE.

Additionally, it is quite obvious that a percentage of the playerbase does not extend their questing experience beyond the same 2-3 quests they like to do. That's fine, everyone can play whatever way they want to. But please don't look at a questing system and see that X% players don't take risks/expand beyond their same 2-3 quests and have the main takeaway that the entire player base does not want more challenges/new quests.

Server numbers are cyclical and the numbers go up and things look great. Then after awhile it dips back down again and we go to a lull. Many players come back after a break and want to play again, I've spoken to many who come back and say they like the changes and would love to have the variety, and an easy fix (Albeit with a lot of work to fit them into the EE) would be to plug some of those old quests that everyone loved.

@gdardog importing old quests will probably never happen, because, unfortunately, they were made with different haks and files at the time.

Some non-hak quests might be doable though….

In all seriousness, quests are on my personal list

Stuff I'm gonna try work on when I'm back: PVP related bugs, hak update, import old quest(s) and balance for current server design, AI perception test (seems like it can see invis) next module of CoARD (City of Arabel Random Dungeons)

and as Spiffy said, they were built with different haks which really breaks stuff when you bring them in to the module. trust me on this, I've brought in 2 old quests (nada's and the sunken ship) and they ended up being more work for me than if I had just made the quests from scratch.
