    • Minor Crafting Suggestion - 0 weight gem dust

      Very minor but:

Gems are 0 weight, but when you grind them down to dust, suddenly they weigh 0.3 lbs. Which means you can grind a 0 pound gem down to almost a pound of dust. Maybe make the dusts 0 weight? Most other small crafting components are 0 weight (grains, berries, etc.)

    • RE: Flat rate for item appearance changes

I vote for a cap of 500! (I know it's not a democracy) We're still talking about multiple useful potions that you'd be giving up.

    • RE: Flat rate for item appearance changes

But the game overvalues properties like damage immunity % which are now very common in gear and arcane spell failure reduction. Thus the cost of modifying these robes/armor will be very very high. So if a crafter managed to make a mithril full plate it would cost boat loads to change the appearance.

The item I'm talking about gives 10% piercing immunity and +1 saves v. Mind affecting. Cost to edit was 1770.

    • Flat rate for item appearance changes

Can we make it so there is a flat rate for armor/clothing appearance changes? I think 100-200 gold for item appearance changes would allow players to customize their appearance a little more easily.

I found a robe with % damage immunity (which many items have now since it is worse than flat DR unless you are taking insane amounts of damage) and NWN values that very highly, so it was going to cost almost 2000 gold to edit. I really think that's a bit high just to improve the aesthetics.

It's a 2003 video game and people want to look cool.

      Please?

(Of course there are certain items where the appearance shouldn't be changed, I'm not advocating changing that)

    • Summon Theme - Planning Domain

How about a summon theme for the planning domain based off of chess pieces (like the old chess quest!)?

      SC1 - Pawn - small,
SC2 - Knight - decent AC, AB, not insane damage
SC3 - Bishop - cleric with a few healing spells, bless etc.?
SC4 - Rook - could be upgraded Knight or ranged crossbow attacker
      SC5 - Queen - mage with offensive non-AoE spells like magic missle/flame arrow/etc

      Wouldn't this be cool?

Just throwing something out there that might be thematic

    • Control Summon - Controlling other players summons

      Area name: N/A
      Issue Location: Summons
      Quest Name: N/A
      Server Version: 7033
Screen Shot: Will work on getting one
      Time:

      Issue Description:
The control summon tool sometimes allows you to move/control other player's summons if they are in your party. I think only one summon can be controlled by the party at once so if I try to order my summon around sometimes it'll order around other player's summons. I will try to do some tests IG to determine more details of this bug. Apologies that this is light on details at the moment.

      Additional Potentially Related Issue:
The control summon tool sometimes only works for the first summon you have, even if you target other summons to control. Not sure exactly why this is.

    • RE: Summon Themes

I can only comment on certain themes so far.

Animal - This theme is actually pretty good. It's basic. Nothing special but nothing bad or broken. SC4 summon seems a little underwhelming but not horribly so.

Rat - This theme is pretty weak at SC1 and 2. SC3 and 4 summons are cool and thematic.

Ooze - This theme is fine. I'm not really sure how -good- some of the summons are, but they certainly add diversity and are thematic. Low AC hinders some of the summons mechanically but they're ooze so it's fine.

Vermin - This theme is by far the strongest of the four that I've used so far. Comparing the SC2 from this with the SC2 from rat, you see 20+ more hp, much higher AC, higher AB, much higher damage. The SC3 from this theme is very powerful but balanced because it's a bit buggy (no pun intended). The SC4 from this theme can solo quest bosses on 6-9 quests with just a couple of buffs.

That being said from what I've heard Vermin is not even among the best themes.

Summons are definitely very powerful at the moment. SC4 creates summons that rival if not outright beat geared level 7 fighters in raw stats. I'm really enjoying playing a summoner but that might need to be looked at a bit.

Edit: I did realize that summons get buffs when you are fully built as a summoner. I'm talking about summons post-buffs. They might be less powerful when used by regular, not GSF Conjuration characters.

    • RE: Suggestion: Preventing common encumbrance

If I could just throw in my opinion (since it's a suggestions forum anyway) encumbrance is the worst thing about NWN. It serves no purpose in its current form other than detracting from fun. I get the need to prevent players from running around with 12 suits of full plate waiting for people to sell it to, but a 5-10% increase would make a -ton- of players have a better time playing the game without allowing for anything crazy.

Quality of life is important when you are competing with servers that have many more players. Wouldn't we all rather be RPing and doing fun stuff rather than taking more time to walk from point A to point B?

In my personal experience on CoA I've had to, on multiple occasions, turn down, give away, or even toss DM loot because it weighed too much for me to carry. Sometimes I'm lucky and DMs are nice and will put weight reduction on it, sometimes they won't and I wind up tossing their custom gear. Which sucks for everyone involved.

This is not a plug for my immediate benefit. It isn't a problem for me right now because I can simply cast Bull's Strength without caring about spell slots and continue on with my day. That isn't true for everyone.

I will spare you all a further multi-page rant on how much encumbrance detracts from the fun of NWN.
