The dangers of the Storm that raged around Arabel for almost a year, destroying settlements and risking the utter annihilation of the lands has finally begun to ebb. The valiant sacrifices of heroes now mourned restored an ancient being whose very essence had been the focus of competition between the witch Zerelstria and the ancient dragon Nythragaal; now both destroyed.
But for weeks strange earthquakes shook the entire region. The cataclysmic events that had beset Arabel nearly shook the entire landscape apart - but though they finally subside, there is no breath of relaxation for anyone. Strange beasts have begun to emerge from the Underdark, not simply goblins or even monstrous aberrations such as hook horrors; adventurers speak in whispered voices of beasts such as death kisses and quth-maren; a strange flayed undead.
Those courageous enough to brave the underdark have encountered a volcanic cavern called the molten labyrinth, regions where the darkness itself seems to breath with malevolence; and only recently they've discovered a small colony of underdark refugees who speak in terror of a rising threat, House Vyra who have turned their attention outward after months of quiet, sinister preparation.
