on killing the boss wolf the quest does not update so there is no successful completion of the quest.

Not sure why that is happening. The boss has the correct variable.

Last time I did this quest, the journal didn't update to show the boss was defeated but I could still turn it in and get rewarded

I just did this quest this morning there was no journal update after I killed the starved dire wolf and I had to cancel the quest cause I there was no turn in to finish it.

May be an issue due to the boss being an animal, possible fix could be to change them into a hungry werewolf

Race shouldnt matter for the script to fire. We've have animals as the boss elsewhere (Potion shop rat, for example).

Deployed a possible fix at V6954. Please confirm.

Killed the starving dire wolf while up in the tower and still not able to finish the quest. Nothing dings then end up having to cancel the quest through the npc.

How did you kill the Boss?

Talked with @Valkyrie and asked him to try to kill the Boss without AEing one of the other Wolves, just to confirm.
