Suken ship: bit of a death trap

Ok was three manning this quest ealier with a level 10, 10 and 7 and this is what happaned.
Every encounted included a mage that used both dispell and fear spells. This mean your buffs are going to have to be reapplied or you going to run this debuffed for the most part... which means there going to be a lot of vs fear saves.
Now the final room is were the party wipe threat is real. First off there two doors, so it hard to keep the swarm under control. Second fear and dispell being chucked about and a boss that very much is a high dps threat for sure. However it seems having three people triggers a champion spawn with something like 16-18 ab while raging who is very capable of doing more damage than a healing stick can heal while the user is sheilded and barked.
Seems a bit much to me.
Also the loot seems to have stopped being the cool pirate stuff and is underwelming.

99 times out of 100 this is a cake walk.
Only struggled once when got similar spawns to the above. But as a general rule of thumb I think this is one of the more straight forward quests.
