Introducing one of our new DM Factions:

      The Lunar Templars

Founded in the final centuries of the Netherese Empire over 2,300 years ago, the Lunar Templars are an ancient knightly order dedicated to protecting the world from hidden evils, forbidden relics, and forgotten catastrophes. Though devoted to Selûne, they draw wisdom from many faiths, united by a shared belief: the Tears of Selûne were not merely spared from destruction; they were entrusted to the Templars for salvation and redemption.

      Faction Duties

Members are expected to advance the order's crusade against the darkness and corruption threatening the Tears of Selûne. To remain in good standing, Templars should regularly engage in the following:

Questing: Pursue missions against aberrations, undead, fiends, and other corrupting forces. Notable examples include Stormbreaker Isle, Bhaal Temple, Angry Child, Haunted Prison, Abyssal Woods, the forthcoming Fallen Citadel of Alumdra, and exploration-focused adventures.

Exploration: Seek out ancient ruins and recover artifacts linked to Selûne or Shar to ensure they remain secure. Particular interest is given to the ruins of Anauria and the remnants of older creator races.

Contests and Events: As a chivalric order, the Templars value honorable competition, including duels, martial contests, and riddle challenges.

      Notable Faction NPCs:

      Grandmaster Aurelian Moonfire
Aurelian is a renowned crusader, hero, and champion of the innocent adopted by the Templars when his Tear fell. A champion of Selune, he believes that redemption is possible for nearly anyone, but that those who embrace darkness willingly must be opposed without hesitation.

      The Wanderer
      Druid of Shaundakul

A mysterious traveler and advisor whose true origins are unknown. The Wanderer studies roads, winds, journeys, and hidden paths, believing that the world follows patterns far larger than most realize. While other members focus on defending what exists, the Wanderer often urges exploration, discovery, and understanding.

      Father Ignatius Ashmantle
      Priest of Kossuth

The order's stern High Confessor, Ignatius teaches that corruption must be confronted and purified before it can spread, especially since his abbey was destroyed by aberrations that only sacred fire could harm - leading him to join the order as its sole representative of Kossuth. Though uncompromising in matters of duty, he is respected for holding himself to the same standards he demands of others.

His rituals of purification and judgment have become central traditions within the order.

      Ser Vaelis Moonwhisper
      Paladin of Corellon

An enigmatic elven knight whose presence in the order stretches back beyond living memory. Some claim Vaelis has served the Lunar Templars for centuries; others whisper that they have been part of the order since its founding. They are frequently gone, sometimes for decades, returning to the order though every time they is needed without fail or falter. Few really know anything about them, even their gender is obscure, but Moonwhisper is described almost as a force of nature by the order when they enter battle. Vaelis serves as keeper of traditions, ancient lore, and the order's oldest secrets.

      Faction Ranks

      Rank 1: Moonsworn
      Rank 2: Argent Knight
      Rank 3: Revelator

      No Alignment Restriction.

The DM faction requires an application to join unless the Player is invited by an NPC.

In the future, there are two simple rules to remember:

      NO SPITTING.

      DO NOT CROSS MISTER MOLOCH.

What is a carefully kept secret within the Lunar Templars is their understanding of the nature of the Tears of Selune. These are not merely refuges where Selune's mercy saved lands in the moments of destruction, these are truly battle ground between good and evil itself. Shar's hand will not relent in her desire to see the lands destroyed, ever she strives through her most powerful servants to spread hopelessness and despair, to turn the Tears to Evil, even if she cannot destroy them by her preference.

The Lunar Templars are the bastion, they recognize that almost every event, even something minor, is part of a wider conflict. Spreading hope, keeping the light alive, all acts of goodness, mercy, or if necessary violence against the dark must be championed or the Tears they are upon shall fall to corruption forever.

The reason the Lunar Templars have come to Arabel is not merely to protect it, but because they lost the last Tear upon which they were headquartered and fear the same fate for Arabel. But only the Templars, or their most trusted allies who come before its leaders and swear to keep their secrets, can be told just how close catastrophe is - the Templars do not wish to cause a wide spread panic as this would only help Shar.

In the future, there are two simple rules to remember:

        NO SPITTING.

        DO NOT CROSS MISTER MOLOCH.
