The dangers facing this Tear of Arabel are neither new nor fully understood by its people. That ignorance is a mercy. Were they to grasp the truth, fear would break them before the enemy could.
For millennia, Selûne and her angels have preserved Toril from curses, ruin, and annihilation. Time and again, her hand has intervened at the brink of destruction, as it did when Zerelestria unleashed the Storm upon Arabel. By her will, lands endure, curses are broken, and even the Primordial was healed to preserve this Tear.
Yet where her light falls, the Dark Sister casts her shadow. She seeks the extinction of hope, light, and life, and her influence reaches every Tear. Though the gods remain silent, their agents do not.
The darkness over the King's Forest, the assaults upon Arabel's temples and nobility, and the blades of the drow are not isolated acts. The drow are merely the weapon; another hand directs them. That force seeks to complete a ritual that will shroud these lands and raise an army of the dead from the Underdark.
This threat is our foremost priority. We must uncover the nature of their ritual and destroy it, or devise a rite capable of countering it. Any viable strategy shall be considered, but failure is not.
Do not underestimate the enemy's reach. The drow have allies within the city and are adept at turning even their enemies into unwitting instruments. Remain vigilant above all else.
Seek out sites of necromancy, aberrant magic, and temples devoted to dark powers. Search them thoroughly. Gather intelligence. Identify heretics, agitators, and those who sow discord instead of unity. Some are spies; others are merely fools. All are assets to the enemy, and all are to be treated as threats. Catalog all you find, capture and bring to our vaults all you can.
